In October 2014, Myron Rivers, i3 Commerce Technology Director of Channel Development, received a referral that caught his attention. It was for a healthcare IT company called T-System, based in Houston.

The referral came from a Comdata rep who was working to land T-System as a client when their CFO asked about Level 3 Processing. “The CFO knew Level 3 savings may exist, but their current processor didn’t offer it,” Myron explains.

So Comdata referred T-System to i3 Commerce Technology because they knew i3 Commerce Technology specialized in Level 3 and Large Ticket Processing. The solution was a natural fit.

Myron ran a cost-savings analysis and unearthed nearly $93,000 in annual savings. It only took a minor tweak to their processing environment. About two months later, he boarded T-System as an i3 Commerce Technology merchant.

In the meantime, T-System decided to go with their bank’s card-issuing program. It didn’t take long, however, for T-System to realize they weren’t getting the level of service they had hoped for.

“It was a large account so I had regular contact with them during the boarding process and when they mentioned their dissatisfaction, I took note,” Myron points out.

That’s when Myron brought up Comdata’s card issuing program. “They were happy with the level of service and support they were receiving from i3 Commerce Technology so, by extension, they started considering Comdata again,” he adds.

Within six months, T-System had switched to Comdata’s card issuing program and the Comdata-i3 Commerce Technology relationship is what helped shorten the sale cycle.

Plus, aside from Comdata landing a big account, the individual Comdata rep benefited, too. He received both the finder’s fee and the monthly residuals moving forward.
