Payment Processing 101

The High Cost of Getting Paid.

Customer convenience comes at a cost. In the few seconds between a card swipe or e‑commerce click and the displayed “APPROVED” message, the transaction data crosses various channels before it ends up with the credit card company.

Why Do Most Payment Processors Charge Such High Fees?
Simple answer: because they can — and so they usually do. What’s more, they can set higher or lower rates for every customer. In general, their largest customers have the buying power to demand lower fees. Otherwise, it’s “take it or leave it” — plus a tie to long-term contracts. But it doesn’t stop there. For almost every transaction, most processors use various payment structures that allow them to pile on additional fees even above and beyond their “set” fees.

Why Does Infintech Offer Such Low Processing Fees?
Simple answer: because we can — and always do. Our company is a lot like yours. We know that providing higher quality at a lower price to earn a fair profit is just good business. One of the reasons Infintech keeps growing is because we rarely lose a customer. Yes, we’re a business. We have bills to pay and employees to support. But we don’t need to make the kind of profits that come from taking advantage of our customers.

Infintech is a private company. We like having great relationships with our customers. We don’t have to maximize our profits simply to keep shareholders happy. We’re not affiliated with any banks or credit card companies. We’re not tied to any equipment manufacturers, so we can shop for the best technology at the lowest prices. Our operations are lean and efficient, which effectively lowers our cost of doing business. Some people think greed is good. At Infintech, we think fairness is better.
